Choosing the Right Logo Method for Custom Bags

Compare embroidery, printing, heat transfer, woven labels, rubber patches, metal logos and other branding methods for custom bag projects.

The logo method affects the appearance, durability and cost of a custom bag. A suitable method should match the material, logo detail, order quantity and target positioning. Buyers should compare the visual effect on the actual bag material instead of choosing only from a digital image.

Embroidery

Embroidery creates a textured and durable result on many woven fabrics. It is suitable for simple to moderately detailed artwork and can support a premium appearance. Very small text, thin lines and dense designs may need simplification. Embroidery can also affect lightweight or coated materials if the backing and stitch density are not controlled.

Screen printing

Screen printing works well for bold graphics and larger print areas. It can be cost-effective for suitable quantities and provides strong color coverage on compatible materials. The buyer should confirm ink type, color, curing and adhesion, especially on coated or textured fabrics.

Heat transfer

Heat transfer can reproduce detailed graphics, gradients and multiple colors. It is often used on smooth synthetic materials. Temperature, pressure and material compatibility are critical because excessive heat can mark or deform some fabrics. A physical test is necessary before production.

Woven labels

Woven labels provide a clean, repeatable branding element and are useful for small text or detailed logos. They can be sewn on the exterior, side seam or interior. Edge finish, fold type, size and attachment method should be specified.

Rubber and silicone patches

Rubber or silicone patches create a modern three-dimensional effect and can work well for sports, outdoor and casual products. These options usually require a mold and a minimum component quantity. Color, thickness, flexibility and sewing holes should be approved.

Metal logos and badges

Metal branding can support a premium look on fashion, business and travel bags. It adds weight and may require a custom mold or plating finish. Attachment points should be reinforced, and packaging should prevent scratches or pressure marks.

Debossing and embossing

Debossed or embossed logos are commonly used on leather, PU and suitable patches. The result is subtle and depends on material thickness, surface texture, pressure and temperature. The factory should test the artwork on the selected material before mass production.

Printed or molded zipper pullers

Custom zipper pullers can extend branding beyond the main logo position. Options include molded rubber, metal and printed tape pullers. Puller size, weight and compatibility with the zipper slider should be reviewed during sampling.

Compare durability requirements

A logo on an outdoor bag may face abrasion, moisture and repeated flexing, while an interior label has a different performance requirement. The method should be evaluated according to the actual use environment. Adhesion, color fastness and scratch resistance may need testing.

Consider order quantity and setup cost

Some methods require screens, molds or tooling. These setup costs may be separate from the unit price. Buyers should compare the total project cost and confirm whether the tooling can be reused for future orders.

Approve exact position and size

The logo should be shown on the sample at the correct scale. Specify the distance from seams, zippers and panel edges. A position that looks correct on a flat drawing may appear different after the bag is filled or worn.

Logo approval checklist

  • Vector artwork is supplied
  • Method is compatible with the selected material
  • Size and position are measured
  • Color reference is approved
  • Small text and fine details are readable
  • Durability matches the product use
  • Setup fees and component minimums are confirmed
  • The final sample shows the production logo
